Lost wax bronze cast representing an old vagrant dressed in a long coat with tormented folds and a pulled-down hat, leaning towards a dog in an attitude of complicity.
Work signed Henri Louis Bouchard (1875-1960), French academic sculptor, prize-winner at the Salon. The sober rectangular base bears the artist's signature, the rectangular founder's mark SIOT as well as the mention "Lost wax", attesting to the unique character or very limited edition of this cast. The patina is nuanced brown, with golden highlights and traces of verdigris in the recesses, testifying to the antiquity of the piece. The surface treatment is expressive and textured, rendered with great realism in the treatment of the drapery. Very slight wear on the patina, requiring no intervention.
Dimensions: H. 38 cm – W. 23.5 cm – D. 15.5 cm. Weight: 5 kg.
