<meta charset="UTF-8" />Exceptional bronze statue of the knight Roland, signed Ch. Gremion. Probably the only one of its kind, made with lost wax. Remarkable craftsmanship.
We offer a rare and remarkable bronze sculpture of the legendary knight Roland, by Charles Gremion, a sculptor active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
This 40 cm-high piece is a finely chased bronze, made using the demanding lost-wax technique, which suggests that it was either a one-off or produced in a very limited edition. The artist's signature, "Ch. Gremion", appears on the terrace.
The knight Roland is shown in armor, standing, with a shield engraved with the word "CREDO" and a sword resting on the ground. The finesse of the chasing, particularly in the work on the chain mail, the face and the details of the armor, testifies to the great talent of Gremion, renowned for his animal and chivalric subjects.
