Gustavo Obiols graduated from the Barcelona School of Fine Arts and trained in France, attending the studios of Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse and Eugène Delaplanche. He was awarded a bronze medal at the 1900 World's Fair. Gustave Obiols' sculptures were produced by the Eugène Blot Foundry and the Société des Bronzes de Paris.
