Biography: Marie SAKSIK, born in 1952
Born in France in 1952, this French sculptor was initially a certified art teacher. Passionate about drawing, at the age of 13 she obtained special permission to audit classes at the Avignon School of Fine Arts, where she studied under the Avignon painter Jean Granet. She created large-format drawings in graphite, charcoal, and sanguine, focusing on bas-reliefs and various plaster casts. After completing her Baccalaureate, she pursued university studies at Aix-Marseille University. Her professors included the photographer Willy Ronis and Danièle Giraudy (currently Chief Curator of Heritage and a member of the French Academy). She earned a Master's degree in Fine Arts.
Marie Saksik discovered clay modeling in 2000.
She left teaching permanently in 2011 to dedicate herself entirely to sculpture.

Her sculptures, initially in the academic style, have gradually evolved towards a more personal approach to the female form. In 2010, a significant step was taken with the transition from terracotta to bronze, leading to a collaboration with the Landowski Foundry in Bagnolet, which produced about ten of her sculptures in patinated, smooth, and taut bronze.

When this foundry closed, she then turned to the Rosini Foundry in Bobigny and the Barelier Foundry in Ivry.
Inspired by Asia and the Orient, Saksik's sculptures, with their generous forms, gently express femininity and sensuality. Harmony and the balance of solid and solid forms are the guiding principles of her work. Her sculptures are a tribute to women who embrace their bodies with complete freedom, indifferent to the dictates of fashion and society.

Her sculptures are a tribute to the feminine figure who embraces herself with grace and serenity. The result appears simple, yet this work is rigorous and meticulous. To lighten the silhouette of her figures, she removes their hair and replaces it with a headdress. For her bronzes, she requests an "extremely taut" chiseling from the foundry. The smooth surface of her sculptures reflects light brilliantly, giving an impression of gentleness and joy. Her style is classical, yet her work possesses a highly personal expression.

She has participated in numerous exhibitions in galleries in France: Ducastel, Des Célestins, Artitude, Base Gallery, Bog Art, Art You, Assemblée Nationale, Business Art, Arte Luxe, Centre d'Art et Création franco-chinois, Thuillier, St André, Beauté du matin calme, Village suisse, le Petit Louvre, Art et Miss, St Antonin, Mairie de St Mandé, and abroad in Belgium, Luxembourg, South Korea, London, and St Petersburg. Her works are held in private collections in France, the United States, Croatia, Luxembourg, Germany, Hong Kong, and Nouméa.

Her sources of inspiration are the sculptures of Aristide Maillol, Chana Orloff, Amedeo Modigliani…
