An okimono in ivory showing a father and his son. The first one carries a carp and the second one a lasso.

This okimono may be a reference to the Koinobori festival which celebrates the strength and perseverance of carp to swim up rivers and waterfalls. According to the legend, these persevering carps will later turn into a dragon. This legend is used to symbolize the growth of male children, their success in school and later in their careers.
