    We present this bust of a young lady, crafted from white marble, likely from Carrara. The sculpture dates back to the mid-19th century. It rests on a square base and a circular pedestal, also made of marble. The depiction of the woman is very severe, intended to convey rigor and seriousness, all characteristics that married women must have possessed during that historical period. The woman wears a cap typically worn by married bourgeois women in the mid-19th century. She likely wears a cape with a bonnet at the back and a large bow at the front.
