Antique altar base in white marble (possibly Carrara marble) with sculpted scrollwork.
This base was probably once used to place a crucifix in its hollow part, on the upper part of a church altar.
Assembled in two parts that fit together with two metal tenons.
French work from the late 19th or early 20th century.

(Restoration to the back at the top, slight chips).
