Alabaster sculpture representing a praying child made in the Florentine workshop of Luigi Pampaloni (around 1830).
This model was very successful in the 19th century, it was originally made for the funerary monument of the youngest daughter of the Polish Countess Anna Potocki.
Luigi Pampaloni followed his academic training at the School of Fine Arts in Carrara. He had a prolific workshop in Florence. He was close to the Grand Duchess of Tuscany Elisa Bonaparte.
Our alabaster example is very finely sculpted by Luigi Pampaloni's workshop.
Around 1830.
