Signed by Charles RUCHOT (1871–1954), this sculpture in régule on its griotte marble base dates from the Art Nouveau period (1890–1910), a pivotal era in design spanning the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with nature, organic forms, and women as its central themes.
This charming allegory depicts a woman wearing a simple dress, her hair loose and flowing. Her arm is raised, holding a bouquet of flowers as she emerges from tall grass—much like spring itself, which sprouts from the grass to become a beautiful flower!
Signed on the back, this magnificent piece from the Art Nouveau period is in very good overall condition; please note a scratch on the left thigh.
