Description

Large Art Deco crackle-glazed ceramic queen's head, heavily inspired by the bronze queen's head by Gustave Miklos from 1929, cast by Valsuani, which belonged to the Claude and Simone Dray collection and sold for over €300,000 at Christie's on June 8, 2006.
Our example dates from the 1940s-1950s and has a distinguished provenance. It was given to its last owner in 1979 by one of the leading antique dealers specializing in the Art Deco period, who had a gallery in the Louvre des Antiquaires. He passed away in 1984.

It requires restoration. A crack on the back is more significant than the others; it is a flake. There is also a small chip of about one millimeter on the side.
