A beautiful polychrome papier-mâché religious sculpture, likely depicting Saint Joseph with the Infant Jesus.
The saint, shown standing in a long draped tunic, rests his hand lovingly on that of the Child, who stands beside him. Saint Joseph's protective posture and the young Christ's trusting gesture lend the whole a gentle and serene expression.
The two figures rest on a substantial Baroque-style base, adorned with scrolls, rocaille motifs, and polychrome reserves. The work retains its original polychromy and a beautiful natural patina. This 18th-century religious work was probably intended for private devotion or for the decoration of a chapel.

In very good overall condition considering its age, with only slight signs of wear and natural imperfections in the polychromy.
