China, Tang period (618-907), very beautiful Chinese terracotta statue depicting a court lady commonly known as "Fat Lady". Her body is hidden under a loose garment, enhanced with color pigments in shades of white and beige punctuated with black flowers, leaving only the shoes visible. The face, full and serene, is of a beautiful white hue. It is topped with an intricate black-tinted arc hairstyle. Height 29.5cm. The scale witness in the last photograph is a small model of a lighter from a well-known brand.
Condition: Head broken at the neck and reattached. Shock at the level of the left elbow having caused major cracks with loss of material. The end of the left foot has a lack (see the photographs; other shots are available on request). No thermoluminescence test but the origin and the sincerity of this piece totally plead in its favor.
