Large, imposing terracotta sculpture, 0.94m high, with a nuanced, gilded patina, depicting Rebecca, wife of Isaac and mother of Jacob and Esau.
Titled "Rebecca" on the base, signed Cherc and Goldscheider, numbered 250.55, and dated 1903. Friedrich Goldscheider founded the "Goldscheider Porcelain and Majolica Factory" in 1885. The company then transitioned from earthenware tableware and luxury porcelain objects to sumptuous polychrome terracotta sculptures. The collaboration extended to renowned artists such as Lorenzi, Chiparus, and Bosse. Success was immediate and spread throughout Europe and even to the United States. Characterized by a striking naturalism, the pieces reflected the Orientalist trend of the time: the Oriental and Berber figures were remarkable for their realism. The factory closed in 1938. Goldscheider stamp, Vienna, reproduction reserved, on the back.
    Some chips at the base.
