Ceramic horse on a metal stand. The horse rocks on its base. Signed Gilbert Portanier. Vallauris.

For sale: a magnificent and authentic ceramic sculpture by one of the leading figures of Vallauris’s golden age: Gilbert Portanier (1926–2023), nicknamed the “magician of colors.”
This is a highly collectible piece depicting a stylized horse (often rendered as a vase-sculpture or a rider/knight), emblematic of his work from the 1960s.
