    - In the center are the essential face elements: a mouth with almost grimacing lips, a broad nose, prominent cheekbones and two elongated almond-shaped eyes. Leaves seem to be used as hair accessories. This is evidenced by the two large leaves emerging from the corners of the mouth and curling up like a moustache, and the broad leaf at the top, embracing the figure's eyebrow arch.


    - This "leafy mask" motif, inherited from the Middle Ages, seems to express the fusion of the plant and human worlds.
