Carved wood depicting Saint Roch from the 18th century. A pilgrim and wonderworker, Saint Roch was born during the Hundred Years' War in the city of Montpellier, where he became its patron saint. Upon the death of his parents, he donned the pilgrim's habit and set out for Rome. Once his pilgrimage was completed, he cared for many sick people in Italy and elsewhere in Europe.
This statue is in its original condition; traces of gilding and polychromy can be seen.
