Large Burmese Buddha in carved wood, represented in the classical bhūmisparśa mudrā posture, typical of the "school of the Ancients", known as Theravāda, the oldest and most conservative branch of Buddhism, direct heir to primitive Buddhism.
The throne, still low and discreet, is part of the Ava vocabulary; however, it features spiky lotus leaves, the first signs of the decoration that would appear on the higher thrones of the Konbaung period.

In very good condition, the flame is no longer present. Wooden additions under the base, made during period restorations (circa 1960), compensate for the inclination caused by the natural erosion of the wood.
