Solid beechwood cabinet or desk armchair, molded and carved, with cane base.

It rests on 4 curved legs, joined by a sinuous belt from which emerges a beautiful carving of a stylized shell in a cartouche. This motif is reversed on the upper crosspiece of the backrest.

The shoulders of the legs are carved with handsome, generous foliage; the side belts are embellished with a rocaille.

Parisian work, Louis XV period.

Stamped twice with E.MEUNIER, it also bears an iron mark of BD ownership.

Old restorations (small cracks at the ends of the legs).

Based on rue de Cléry, this skilled chair joiner worked for such fashionable merchants as Migeon, supplier to the court, and Etienne Igou. His workshop remained in existence until the end of the reign of Louis XV. All the chairs bearing his stamp are of the highest quality.
