Pair of Chippendale-style armchairs in red lacquered wood, resting on four legs: curved at the front, decorated with cartouche, foliage and shell, and ending in claw and ball, with lion's paws holding a ball. The rear legs are saber-shaped and end in simple clogs. Arm brackets set back from the base; serpentine armrests with acanthus leaf decoration. Openwork back decorated with acanthus leaves and scrolls on the uprights and central cut-out decoration with hearts, scrolls, acanthus leaves, cock's crest and cartouche. Seat upholstered in Rubelli fabric with yellow background and oriental-style motifs in orange and red tones.
Made circa 1880.

Rubelli is a historic Venetian fabric group, whose workshops are located in the old 19th-century Zanchi factory in Cucciago, Italy.
