Superb all-cherry sofa with ebony and lemon fillet, central carved decoration of an Eagle and Lions with coats of arms, signed and dated 1812.

Coat of arms on the left with cabinetmaker's signature "Jarnan Tourneur" and coat of arms on the right with inscription "A Barbezieux XDCCCXII".

Central part with eagle and quotation in cartouche "L'éloignement me resserre" with carved rope and knot design.

We have several Empire-period pieces of the same provenance from an officer in Napoleon's army, which can be seen on our website, and which have been offered for sale successively.
