Duchesse Brisée in Louis XVI style, with lacquered wood frame and repainted with an original cream paint.
It is made up of three elements: a Bergere, a Center Stool and an End of Foot which consists of an Armchair with a lower back. These different parts are separable and can be used independently. They can therefore be arranged harmoniously on either side of a living room, and adjustable as desired.
The two Bergères with curved and enveloping backs are topped with a ribboned knot and the armrests with Cuffs are molded and finished in Volutes. The low crosspieces are also sculpted, like the angles of the legs, with flower decorations. The latter, four in number per chair, are all tapered and fluted, as are those of the Pouf.
This central part with concave sides unites the whole with homogeneity and gives unbroken lines to this daybed once reconstituted.
This cousin of the Sofa has seen her Tapestries completely redone, with care and in the old fashioned way, with Aged Nail finishes, in accordance with the rules of the Decorative Art of her time. The inside of the backrests is therefore covered with a very pretty Toile de Jouy. It is printed with Scenes of Life common for this century, around water, such as paintings of Men in Fishing or Women in the laundry ... A plain "Paris-Texas Casamance" fabric was used for the repair of the exteriors of this Broken Duchess and for the making of its three thick removable cushions generously filled with feathers. With Double Piping finishes to emphasize their structure, it should be noted that they are removable, with the exception of the central one. The fabrics used are made of Linen and mainly Cotton.
The Straps and Pelotes backdrops are in excellent condition.
We will appreciate the great adaptability of this Duchess with full cheeks who is an undeniable invitation to rest and relaxation. It skillfully combines Charm and Comfort, notably through its sublime tapestries and deep shapes.
