Superb set of 5 Louis XV period chairs in molded and carved beech.
Chairs stamped by Henri Amand, who became a master in 1749.
The four legs are joined by a crosspiece reminiscent of the Regency period with a central flower.
    The four legs are arched.
The front crosspiece is molded and carved with a central flower and foliage.
The top of the front legs is carved with a plant motif and a flower.
The sides are highlighted with a molding and a plant motif.
The rear legs, like the front legs, are carved with an acanthus leaf.
The backrest is flat, curved, molded, and carved, like the front band, with a flower and foliage.
These chairs are upholstered in a Jacquard fabric reminiscent of greenery.

    For information:
Henri Amand was a Parisian master cabinetmaker who became a master on November 17, 1749.
After setting up on Rue de Lappe, he moved his workshop to Rue de Charenton, where his widow continued to work from 1757 to 1768. This cabinetmaker's most notable works include Louis XV chairs, beautifully proportioned and well-crafted, caned desk chairs, armchairs à la reine carved with cartouches and flowers, and elegant sofas adorned with rocaille motifs. He often joined the legs of his chairs with a crosspiece.
Henri Amand's stamp is usually affixed to one of the backrest uprights, behind the seat. The grand signature of this master cabinetmaker (who worked for a long time as a privileged worker before receiving his master's certificate) is among the oldest found on 18th-century furniture.
The closely spaced characters appear to form a single whole.
Specializing in seating, Henri Amand primarily produced curved chairs with a very noble and pure line.
    An undisputed master!
