Engelstuhl" chair signed Mundus, obviously produced by Joseph HOFMANN (Vienna, Austria) in 1907/1908 in curved wood and wicker seat. Similar to KOHN model n°36. Ready for use
Original walnut stain under shellac.
This chair is in perfect condition, with perfect cane (cane 2.2 X 2.4 mm-). The chair bears the MUNDUS label and is produced by the Hofmann factory in Bielitz (Austro-Hungary).
Dimensions: Overall height: 90 cm. Seat height : 47cm. Seat diameter: 40cm. total width: 45 cm.
Note that Hofmann Joseph is an Austrian bentwood manufacturer who worked under his own brand name from 1880 to 1907, when he joined the Mundus Consortium with his production. Not to be confused with the designer Joseph Hoffmann (1870-1956), co-founder of the Wiener Werkstatte, he was one of the leading figures of the Viennese Secession.
