Pair of Venetian Seats in Colored Wood, designed in the 1st part of the 20th century.
The Subjects, perfectly Symmetrical, each have one knee on the ground, and seem submissive. They carry with one hand a Cushion resting on their shoulders, and maintain their backs, using their other hand. These Brick-colored pillows, which appear Soft, are embellished with a Gold Gallon on their Edges as well as Carved Wood Pompoms on their Corners.
These Slave characters are Male and Black in complexion. Their dull faces and their large red eyes reflect an undeniable fatigue, surely due to the harshness of their chores. Their Frizzy Hair is combed back. They are both simply dressed in a Canary Yellow tunic, tightened at their waists by a red cord. Their feet are shod in small Ballerinas of the same shade.
These Subjects rest on a first Base of 6 cm, nested on a second, more substantial, high of 28 cm. The Bases thus formed are Curved and Canted. Their surfaces are painted with a successful Green Marble effect.
