A rare and sought-after piece, this sumptuous ceremonial dromedary blanket comes from the Fethiye region in south-west Turkey.
Even today, it is used once a year in folkloric ceremonies, perpetuating an ancestral tradition.
Handcrafted from wool on wool, its brown parts are made from genuine camel wool, a direct reference to its ritual function and origin.
The subtly nuanced vegetal hues respond to each other with remarkable harmony, lending the whole a sober elegance and bewitching visual softness.
The fine weaving reveals the skills of expert craftsmen: regular, precise and perfectly mastered.
