Rare shawl in French Kashmir 19th
Maison Biétry, Supplier of Their Imperial Majesties
Superb and rare 19th century French cashmere shawl, from the prestigious Maison Biétry, patented supplier of Their Imperial Majesties, gold medal in 1834, 1839 and silver medal in 1844.
This refined textile, made in the workshops of Villepreux, was sold at the time by the famous Larue & Cie department stores, located on rue de Rivoli in Paris.
This sumptuous cashmere called "Harlequin" is distinguished by the harmony and liveliness of its red, green, saffron, blue, black and white colors and the richness of its weaving.
It has never been worn and is in an exceptional condition: no holes, no stains, colors remained perfectly fresh.
It is still accompanied by its original label sewn on the reverse, as well as its vintage box, decorated with the green and gold emblem of the Maison Biétry.
The inside of the box also contains a beautiful gold illustrated envelope representing the facade of the Larue Department Store.
Its original box has traces of dirt and the links for closure are no longer present (see photo).
