A mid-19th century double patina bronze stepped subrectangular clock with wire movement
This gilt bronze clock is delicately chiseled with foliage, acanthus leaves, pearls and garlands. It is topped by a bronze sculpture, with a brown patina, showing two children, in a semi-recumbent position, going through a book. The boy seems to have a protective gaze on the young girl at his side, while she covers her arm with a drape while continuing her reading.
The dial, surrounded by pearls, is graduated with blue Roman numerals for the hours and black Arabic numerals for the minutes.
The front of the clock is openworked and shows a white marble, identical to the one on which this timepiece is fixed.
The whole rests on four beaded and grooved feet.
This clock, guardian of time for a century and a half, will please you by its elegance and the contrast of its patinas.
