Important three-piece mantel set, composed of a clock and a pair of candelabras.
The Sienna brocatelle marble clock, designed in the temple style, is topped by a gilded patina bronze sculpture of a Roman circus lion underlined by a twisted brass rod.
The cornice is bordered by a frieze of ornaments, also in gilded bronze.
The entablature, embellished with motifs of the Archangel Gabriel on the front and lion heads on the sides, is supported by four columns with Corinthian capitals resting on acanthus leaf chalices.
The glazed interior features a clock with an enameled, chased-brass dial and Roman numeral hours.
The set rests on a palmette-decorated base ending in small spinning top feet.
This set is accompanied by a pair of large five-light candelabra in gilt bronze, delicately sculpted with scrolls and foliage. The candle holders are reminiscent of flower petals.
Each candelabra is embellished at the top with a candle snuffer resembling buds.
In the spirit of the clock, the shafts are supported by larger chalices resting on a square base with palmette motifs, and also ending in small spinning top feet.
With its charming, refined style, this set will appeal to art and antiques enthusiasts alike, and will easily find its place on a mantelpiece or simply on the piece of furniture of your choice.
