Louis XVI clock in blue Turquin marble and finely chiseled and gilded bronzes.
Triangular in shape, the molded base rests on spinning top feet and is beautifully decorated with bronzes featuring scrapers, garlands, scrolls, and foliage and flower falls. In the center, there is a bas-relief frieze of Cupids hunting wild boars.
The enameled dial echoes this floral decoration.
At the end of the clock, a figure of Venus holds a dove in her hand, which a winged Cupid is trying to steal from her.
The period movement, with a wire, strikes the hours and half-hours.
