Pendulum terminal in gray marble presenting a female bust in bronze. Movement by Japy Frères et Cie, this famous dynasty founded a workshop in 1777 in which Frederic Japy renewed and mechanised the traditional establishment process practiced in the Jura by the watchmaking profession. From watch movements, Japy moved on to clocks and diversified into tools, motors, bicycle parts, lighting, garden furniture, pumps, coffee grinders, typewriters, etc. The 1880s marked Japy's golden age. Nearly 5,000 workers work in the Japy factories in the region. The family had thirteen castles built on Beaucourt and Dasle, four have disappeared.
