Large table clock made in France (Ste Suzanne, near Montbéliard) in the early 1980s by the L'Epée company. Model: Le Corinthien, ref. 9015 L.
L'Epée was the last French clockmaker still producing officers' clocks. Regulators are much rarer. All L'Epée clocks were entirely faithful to early 19th-century designs, both in their aesthetic appearance and their movements.
This one features a Parisian movement with a Brocot escapement and regulator. Mercury compensating balance. Polished brass case. Enamel dial. Four beveled glass panes.
Requires winding once a week. Strikes the hours and half-hours.

Excerpt from the original description: Elegant, slender, and with remarkably clean lines, the Corinthien regulator is rightly considered one of the finest pieces of decorative clockwork currently produced worldwide. This aesthetic perfection allows it to harmonize with all styles of furniture or fireplaces. The Corinthian Regulator: a prestigious jewel of French clockmaking.

The L'Épée brand still exists (now Swiss), but regulators are no longer produced.

Good overall condition. Perfect working order. Some scratches and oxidation on the case.

    330 mm x 194 x 164 mm.
