Pair of beautiful Chinese export paintings on pith paper (also called rice paper) depicting court scenes or examples from the lives of wealthy people. The two figures, a standing woman and a seated man, are assisted by their servants. Servants are often portrayed as smaller people.
The two paintings are framed together in a fairly recent frame. The colors are always fresh and alive, but unfortunately, pith paper is fragile and as expected, here we see the traces of time: the paper is torn, there are gaps, freckles and stains also we find a snack under the woman's chair. I would ask you to pay attention to the photos please and if you have any concerns please contact me. Thank you.
The approximate dimensions of each painting 21 cmx x 31 cms; the framed dimensions: 35 cms x 47 cms (1603 g).
