Set of 15 metal compasses from the end of the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century used by marble sculptors. The largest (up to 85 cm long) are forged, of very old manufacture stamped "POMEZZANA ITALY", a village in Tuscany renowned for the manufacture in the 18th century of specialized tools for marble carvers. Other stamps are readable on the smaller utensils: "LJM", "FRANCARN HONSBERG" (Germany). The set is in good condition with remarkable patinas of age for some examples. These objects come from the former collection of the hyperrealist painter P. A. in his house in Taroudant, Morocco.
