Superb model of a Louis XIV candlestick, decorated à la Bérain with lambrequins, enriched with mascarons and gadrooned rings. Solid bronze, cast in two parts, linked by a central rod ending below in an antique-style medal. The use of the central threaded stem, an invention of the Directoire and Empire periods, leads us to believe that this candlestick was part of a commission from a Noble émigré, who on his return, 1818-1820, wanted to recompose part of his vanished heritage. The quality is superb, and the model quite rare.
