This memento mori or vanity represents a skull placed on two crossed tibias.
We are in a representation reminiscent of the catacombs in which the bones were sometimes staged in a theatrical manner.
This bronze probably comes from an allegorical monument of death, or from a private chapel.
Large bronzes on this theme are very uncommon, this one is a life size of a small person.
A quality base in a 19th century red velvet base was attached to it without fixing, leaving another presentation possible. has been joined to it without making a fixation leaving another possible presentation.
