Cigar Humidor / Cigar Case in Burl Wood and Decorative Bronze
Napoleon III Period – 19th Century
An elegant cigar humidor or smoking case from the second half of the 19th century, crafted from precious burl wood and ebony inlay.
The front and lid are richly decorated with chased bronze and brass fittings, embellished with medallions depicting women's faces and horses' heads in relief.
The curved lid reveals a meticulously designed interior for storing cigars.
It includes several sliding, perforated trays allowing for efficient storage and good air circulation, as well as a large lower compartment.
The initials "C P" appear on the front, presumably those of the first owner.
The refined decoration, the quality of the wood, and the richness of the ornamentation are characteristic of luxury goods from the Napoleon III period.
Condition
Good overall condition.
Some wear, minor losses, and age-related restorations.
