Culture Songye / Luba, Zaire DRC
First half of the 20th century
Wood, fabric and cowrie shells
H .: 41; L .: 14; Thickness: 13 cm
(restoration on the arm)
He is standing, his feet resting on a thick and circular base, his arms are openwork and his hands with individualized fingers, placed on his stomach. The prominent umbilicus closes a load of which we can guess a piece of tissue.
Her bust and sex are signified. His face presents a rectangular beard, a half-open mouth which draws hemmed lips, a short nose and triangular in shape. Finally, the eyes are embellished with cowries.
Beautiful shiny patina.
