Democratic Republic of the Congo, Luba/Hemba people, mid-20th century, very attractive little caryatid seat in engraved wood with a strong patina, featuring a female figure seated on a circular base with a border decorated with geometric motifs. The carving of the figure is remarkable, depicting the evocative power of the woman, with a proudly erect chest, a sign of fertility, and a prognathic face full of self-assurance. The sculptor's attention to detail is evident in the engraved border, the digitized hands and the proud posture.
