Antique Senoufo chair engraved with a crocodile.
The Senoufo live in northern Côte d'Ivoire.
Their articulated bucket-chair, known as a "guardian's chair", invites you to rest with its beautiful balance and elongated shape, while its high price reserved it for an elite for everyday use.
A superb example in solid wood with a beautiful patina of age and use, known as a "palaver" chair. The structure, in two interlocking parts, can be dismantled.
This easily transportable seat followed the men to their meetings and on the move, particularly under the palaver tree! Handcrafted in the traditional way, it is engraved with a crocodile running the length of the backrest.
