Antique traditional chief's stool from the Asante people of Ghana. Beautiful example engraved on both sides with the "Sankofa" symbol in the center of the stool, represented by a mythical bird looking back and symbolizing the return to one's roots, commitment to one's community and acceptance of one's heritage. The seat is also engraved with motifs. The Asanthi people attach great importance to these magnificent traditional stools made of hand-carved wood.
