In Africa, the way people sit often reveals a cultural system based on a highly hierarchical stratification.
Very old and marked by use and time, this superb monoxyle seat with curved seat is carved with four legs and a central openwork column. The legs are missing, cracked and broken, and there are cracks due to desiccation.
However, it remains admirable thanks to its beautiful honey-brown patina and harmonious proportions. Ghana: Late 19th, early 20th century.
