Less than 3 Kota reliquary figures are double-sided, so they are called Janus: MBULU-VITI.
Our old example measures 44cm and can reasonably be dated to the beginning of the 20th century. Wooden core plated with copper or brass with eyes maintained on both sides by nineteenth century milking gun screws. The patina of use and time is quite remarkable and not artificial or mystified by some subterfuge often very crude.
