    Biface pottery collected in the Washkuk Mountains region of Papua New Guinea. Kwoma ethnic group. Pot used in a fertility cult linked to the yam harvest. The shape of this pot is reminiscent of the yam itself, a sacred tuber. Fully sculpted terracotta with stylized faces enhanced with natural pigments or paint. Probably used as a herb pot.
