FAGES (Arthur), born in Toulouse on May 11, 1902 and died in Socoa on November 29, 1984. Fascinated by drawing and painting from an early age, Arthur Fages took part in the Salons des Artistes Français and des Artistes Méridionaux in 1922 and 1923. In 1925, he held his first solo exhibition in Toulouse. A period of travel followed, notably to Spain, Austria, Hungary, Italy and Portugal, which nourished his inspiration. He took part in the International Exhibition of Arts and Techniques in Paris, and held an artist's exhibition at the Musée des Augustins and the Salon d'Art Contemporain in 1942. In 1949, he was named Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur, and in 1951 was elected to the Académie des Arts deToulouse in the "Painter" category. He had numerous international exhibitions in New York, Haiti and Egypt. His works found their way into numerous private collections.
