This jewel has a beautiful green and russet patina.
From the 1st to the 3rd century A.D., the Gandhara region played a major role in the epic of Buddhism, a spirituality which, by rejecting all ideas of caste, shook up the world order. Thus, Buddhist art, breaking with the master's instructions, appropriated the most beautiful forms of various Greek, Indian, Persian and other artistic cultures to present Buddha in human form to the faithful, an enlightened man full of wisdom and compassion.
