    Gandhara civilization, ca. 3rd century, rare reliquary, cylindrical in shape, with a lid adorned with a triple handle suggesting a stupa, featuring lotus motifs.
    The box is delicately carved to depict four meditating Buddhas inside niches surrounded by pillars.
    It is made of gray schist.
    Dimensions: Height 14.7 x Diameter 9 (cm).
    Provenance: Acquired by its former owner in Hong Kong in 1989 from a specialized antique dealer.
    In good condition, except for a few minor chips that do not affect the piece’s aesthetic appeal.
