Tibet, late 19th century, important and superb lacquered and gilded bronze vajra. The carving is particularly elaborate, notably on the "makara" water dragon heads above the four points.
Due to its size and quality of execution, this vajra is a rare piece that most certainly belonged to a high-ranking lama.
