A Boulle marquetry and ebonized wood tea caddy with a mahogany veneer interior, a fine example of 19th-century craftsmanship dating from around 1850, typical of tea caddies from the early Napoleon III period.
The brass cartouche on the lid is engraved with the monogram VG.
The caddy is in excellent condition. There are no missing pieces or damage to the Boulle marquetry. All the inner lids are present, including the intermediate aluminum lids (designed to preserve the aromas). The key is present and functional. There is a small, insignificant chip in the brass trim on one edge.
