Ivory powder compact with an engraved silver monogram. It can be taken apart (the top and middle sections unscrew). This object was part of the toiletries and fashion accessories of the 19th-century bourgeoisie. It was used to hold talcum powder. It was used to powder the inside of leather gloves to prevent them from tearing. The narrow neck allowed for precise dispensing of the powder and enabled it to be inserted deep into the gloves. 19th-century French craftsmanship. CITES certificate.
