Burr veneer jewelry or travel case adorned with brass reinforcements, escutcheon cartouche engraved with the JE or EJ monogram, portfolio interior in gilded paper with small irons. Late Empire period, circa 1810.
The corner reinforcements in cladding are intended to make the box more resistant to falls caused by rolling on a ship at sea. A refined object suitable for a dandy's daily life or for a jewelry box.
Very good condition, cleaned and polished by our cabinetmaker. No accidents, except for a small plating jump in a low corner. The wrought-iron key is period correct, but not the original one.
